Motorised borehole, overhead tank and 100 metres of fencing, District 543
Awarded 9 June 2021 and delivered in 21 days: borehole drilled and developed, a 2,000 litre Geepee tank mounted on a stand, and the plot closed with 100 metres of fencing, gate and barbed wire.
Water and a secure boundary in three weeks
A private estate property investor needed a serviced plot on farmland in District 543: a working water supply, storage on a stand, and the compound closed off with a wall and gate that would hold.
Three separate trades had to run in sequence without any of them holding up the others — the borehole had to be drilled and developed, the tank stand built and the tank mounted, and the perimeter fence built around a site that was still being worked in. The contract was awarded on 9 June 2021 and delivered in 21 days.

Scope of works
- Motorised borehole drilled and developed to supply the plot

- One hundred metres of perimeter fencing
- Vehicle gate and pedestrian access formed within the fence line
- Barbed wire security topping on the fence
What made 21 days possible
Not speed on site — sequence. Drilling, stand construction and fencing were programmed to run in parallel where the ground allowed, materials were delivered ahead of each trade rather than on the morning they were needed, and the fence line was set out first so nothing was built inside it and then moved. Three weeks is short, and it only works when the sequence is decided before mobilisation.
A 21-day programme is realistic for a borehole, tank and fence on open farmland. It is not realistic on a tight urban plot with no access, or where the ground needs investigation first. We will not quote three weeks to win a job we cannot finish in three weeks.
