Post-construction and pre-handover building cleaning
Post-construction and pre-handover cleaning by the contractor who built the building — because the person removing cement film should know what the surface will tolerate.
What this covers
Handing over a building with cement film on the tiles, paint spots on the frames and dust inside every cabinet is a poor ending to a good job. Building cleaning is a small service line that finishes the work properly.
- Post-construction cleaning: cement and grout film removed from tiles, terrazzo and sanitary ware
- Paint, adhesive and plaster splashes removed from glass, frames, switches and fittings
- Fine dust removal from cupboards, wardrobes, ceiling fans and light fittings
- Window and glazing cleaning, inside and out, including frames and tracks
- Floor scrubbing, polishing and sealing where specified
- Pre-handover presentation cleaning before the client's walk-through
- One-off deep cleaning of occupied buildings before an event, letting or inspection
Why it is done by the contractor and not a cleaner
Post-construction cleaning needs to know what a surface will tolerate. Acid-based descalers etch polished tiles and some sanitary ware; scrapers take the glaze off glass; the wrong solvent lifts powder-coated frames. We clean what we built, so if something is marked we know how it was marked and what will remove it without ruining the finish.
Cleaning is quoted as its own line, either inside the main contract or as a stand-alone job after somebody else's work. It is not bundled invisibly into the build price.
Handover next week?
Book a pre-handover clean and a snag review in the same visit. It is cheaper than discovering the marks after the client has moved in.
